  7. -------------
  8. This is v1.01 of the Stealth 3D 2000 Pro Series Windows v3.1 driver disk.

  11. Windows Installation Notes
  12. --------------------------
  13. Use the INSTALL program to install the Windows 3.1 drivers from DOS or
  14. from the Windows Program Manager.
  15.  
  16. *  Suggestion:  If you are upgrading from a previous version of the
  17.    Diamond InControl Tools, you should install from DOS, not from
  18.    within Windows.  This will bypass errors regarding any files that
  19.    may be in use and cause the installation to fail.
  20.           
  21. *  Suggestion:  When running the Windows install use MS VGA  
  22.    to eliminate any OEM files that could create a conflict.
  23.  
  24. *  When running a Windows install, if the install says 
  25.    "file in use, abort/continue" and the file in question is 
  26.    a font (*.FON) file, continue the install.
  27.  
  28. *  If strange errors occur and text is missing from dialogs,
  29.    check for *.VBX files in your \WINDOWS directory.  *.VBX files
  30.    should only reside in the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM sub-directory.
  31.  
  32. Once the driver launches Windows, you will be placed in 640x480
  33. 256-color 60Hz mode and InControl Tools Lite will launch. See below for 
  34. instructions for using InControl Tools Lite.
  35.  
  36. For cards with TV-OUT capability
  37. --------------------------------
  38. If you are using TV-OUT capabilities, select television as your monitor
  39. type in InControl Tools Lite.  See below for further details on selecting
  40. a monitor.
  41.           
  42. InControl Tools Lite
  43. --------------------
  44. InControl Tools Lite (hereafter referred to as ICT Lite) is a
  45. program that allows you to control the resolution, refresh rate,
  46. color depth, and font size of your desktop.
  47.  
  48. Before ICT Lite will allow you maximum control of your
  49. desktop, ICT Lite needs to know about your monitor.  To define
  50. your monitor, you can select your monitor from the list of
  51. monitors (if it is listed), select a monitor that is close to
  52. your monitor's characteristics, or define your monitor using
  53. User Defined Monitor.

  55.     To use User Defined Monitor:
  56.  
  57.     1.  Open Control Panel.
  58.  
  59.     2.  Select InControl Tools Lite.
  60.  
  61.     3.  Select User Defined Monitor from the monitor list.
  62.  
  63.     4.  This will bring up a dialog box containing the resolutions
  64.         and refresh rates supported by the Stealth 3D 2000 Pro Series
  65.         adapter.
  66.  
  67.     5.  Select the resolutions and refresh rates supported by
  68.         your monitor.  Refer to your monitor's documentation for
  69.         this information.  Please note that selecting incorrect
  70.         resolutions or refresh rates can cause damage to your
  71.         monitor.  Diamond Multimedia Systems, Inc., cannot be
  72.         held responsible for damages that occur to your monitor
  73.         from selecting resolutions and refresh rates not supported
  74.         by your monitor.
  75.  
  76.     6.  After adding the resolutions and refresh rates supported
  77.         by your monitor, select OK.
  78.  
  79.     7.  Select the resolution, color depth, and system resource size
  80.         you wish to use.
  81.  
  82.     8.  Select OK.  You will be prompted to restart Windows.  Select
  83.         Restart Windows.
  84.  
  85.     9.  After Windows restarts, a dialog box will appear asking if
  86.         the selected video mode appears correct.  If it does, select OK.
  87.         If you do not respond within 10 seconds, or if you select Cancel,
  88.         ICT Lite will return your video mode to 640x480 256-color 60Hz.

  90. Once you have defined your monitor via any of the three methods above,
  91. you may change your resolution, color depth, and system resource size
  92. via the pull down menus in ICT Lite.  Only resolutions that have been 
  93. selected as supported in the Display module will be available in the Desktop 
  94. choices.  If your monitor can display a resolution provided by the card,
  95. go to Display and select a monitor that offers that mode and refresh, or 
  96. see the above instructions for selecting a User Defined Monitor.  Making 
  97. changes will cause Windows to restart.  If you change the refresh rate of a 
  98. User Defined Monitor monitor, but do not select a different resolution or 
  99. color depth, exit Windows and restart.  After Windows restarts, a dialog box 
  100. will appear asking if the selected video mode appears correct.  If it does, 
  101. select OK.  If you do not respond within 10 seconds, or if you select Cancel,
  102. ICT Lite will return your video mode to 640x480 256-color 60Hz.

  105. ICT Lite does not include the following features found in the standard ICT for
  106. Windows 3.1:
  107.  
  108. Panning, zooming, virtual desktops, viewports, popup menu, color (brightness,
  109. contrast, etc.), aspect ratio, icon fonts, font size, font color, font aspect
  110. ratio, playing wave and midi files through ICT, full motion video played
  111. through ICT, hotkeys through ICT, running other programs through ICT, and
  112. power consumption.
